Cohere is at a critical phase of growth – revenue growth has been 📈📈📈 over the past few months and we are building out a talented engineering team to accelerate this trajectory. As an early engineer, you’ll work closely with the CTO and engineering team to drive mission-critical, cross-functional projects across the organization and deliver on our ambitious product roadmap. Since you will be an early member of the team, you will be uniquely positioned to shape the Cohere product across all areas.

  • Work on challenging distributed systems problems

  • Build world-class product experiences

  • Contribute to building a rockstar engineering team

  • Advocate and maintain a high bar of code quality, new tech, and system design

  • Be part of an end-to-end design and product process and own large feature sets


  • 2+ years of software engineering experience

  • Must be knowledgeable in Node and JavaScript (TypeScript preferred)

  • Must be knowledgeable in at least one backend framework, e.g. Koa or Express

  • Must be knowledgeable in at least one frontend framework, e.g. React or Vue

  • Must be knowledgeable in relational database design and writing basic SQL queries, e.g. in PostgreSQL.

  • Must be Galaxy Brain 🌌🧠


These aren’t necessary, but you might be really a awesome fit if you have:

  • Websocket experience

  • A great eye for clean and modern design

  • Strong CSS skills
